Tokyo Marathon Training #1

Had the day off today and first job was to reposition the outdoor dog pen. Dismantled in it half, cleared the ground, concrete blocks down, steel pipe flat rails to hold the floor and away I went. Trying to keep the dogs further away from the front of the house in the hope that it stops them barking at every moving object.

After that I hit the Edo river and headed north for 5km with the Garmin in my back pocket. I probably haven’t jogged in over year now and with the Tokyo Marathon less than four months away I thought it wise to re-introduce my legs and body to the pavement without the comfort of a $4000+ bicycle to carry my heavy ass.
My legs felt fine and I took it easy all the way up to the Tobu Noda line bridge that crosses the river. At this point my left calf muscle told me to walk the rest of the way home. A tight pain that was probably nerves that had had enough of jogging after sitting dormant all year with my cycling efforts.

The walk home was good too. Like last Friday out came an Asahi Ginger Draft to cool down and a sleep in front of the TV.

Time for a hot bath right now.

Will have to do a bit of stretching in future. (I hate stretching).
