Ethnicity Ancestry v MyHeritage v FTDNA

Updated Ancestry Sep 11 2020

They are both giving practically the same results. No surprises.

My Heritage: Irish, Scottish & Welsh 81.8%. England 14.2%
Ancestry: Ireland, Scotland 88%. England Wales & Northern EU 12%

Ancestry: Ireland 76% Scotland 19%. England Wales & Northern EU 5%
N.B Scotland includes NI. Primarily located in: Scotland, Northern Ireland

Welsh is in separate categories for each. They are using different methods or databases to calculate these but they’ll never have it perfect as that’s impossible. Also, we don’t know what timeframes they are calculating these on if any.

I think Ancestry has dumped all my Ulster McEntyre DNA into Scotland.
R-M222 is my Y haplogroup and it’s origin overlaps Northern Ireland and Scotland. No Leinster. Lots of Munster though which I can confirm with lots of locations there from my great great grandparents.

Just had a look at the updated Family Tree DNA ethnicities and they are ignoring Scotland and England altogether… They’ve given me a pinch of Yugoslavian.
