Sunday Spittin Sunday

To the tune of U2’s Sunday Bloody Sunday…

Coming home from training this morning I met the dirtiest gaijin on bicycle I have ever met in my life.
I was just starting out back home from training and had to get home in a hurry as well. Luckily, (I thought) just as I was about to start pushing it, a gaijin (foreigner) guy passed me on my right going a little faster than me. So, I did what any cyclist does and got a bit of a draft happening. This guy then started blowing his nose to the side and I was catching some of it. Surely he couldn’t have done that on purpose and as I was in a hurry to get home I decided I better get in front of him and fly home. I pushed the pace up from 35kph to 42kph and went around him and held that pace hoping it was fast enough to leave him behind or I didn’t mind if he drafted off me as long as he couldn’t booger on me anymore…
But, no… he comes flying past me again… and again I jump on his wheel. The he starts blowing his nose and spitting again.
Infuriated, I yelled in Japanese ‘Oi, naniyattenno?’ As in ‘Oi, WTF are you doing?’
He kept going and I was not sure what to do now. Should I chase him down and head butt him like any good Australian cyclist (think Cadel Evans, Robbie McEwen) or should I just stay back and keep my cool.
I decided to stay at a safe distance (about 100m behind) and take it easy. He however was getting faster and faster, trying to get away from me.
Bah… I decided to chase him down and see if he’s game to do it again. I’d been watching him for a while and his snotty nose seemed to have stopped. That is, until I got near him again. Snort, slimey snort and spit. I dodged the slime and spittle and came up beside him.
Me: ‘Hi.’
Him: ‘No ingrish’ with no smile on his face at all…a bit of a look like why are you here and trying to talk to me… ?
Me: Furansu?
Him: No, Supein.
Me: Nihongo daijobu? (can you handle speaking Japanese?)
Him: ‘daijobu’. (no problem)
We then had a little chat in Japanese and although I was furious underneath I played the friendly card…
What was to gain by me pushing him down the embankment?
We talked for about 5 minutes but I wanted to get home quickly so told him to be on his way and I turned off at my bridge…

What a disgusting way of dealing with wheel suckers?

Will edit in stats later after uploading the garmin.
Went to the driving range at 11 after a quick shower to do some Piranha
